CPU Usage & Website Speed

Post by PeterJ »

You may have noticed the website running slow today. The server CPU usage has hit 100% as can be seen on the graph below. The dip to the right of the graph is where I rebooted the server earlier today. After the restart the usage quickly returned to 100%.

The update planned for this afternoon has been postponed.

You are likely to get more 'Cloudflare' security checks whilst I investigate what or who is causing this.

This chart shows the total requests over the last 24 hour period:

Oh my days of being a web devloper/ supporter. When 'Switching it off and on again' worked for a few glorious seconds before the CPU and bandwidth usage rocketed again for no obvious reason. I don't at all envy you, and you're not even getting paid for this. Many respects.

Potentially the traffic is coming from Sweden (although I appreciate the actual destination could be anywhere).

Probably due to contention on the floating bus...

Wow, a lot of USA viewers, I thought the American Timex-Sinclair machine was not so popular.

That's most likely bots.

Well I gotta say it certainly *feels* like I'm human from over here.

I think.

Is Cloudflare blocking the DuckDuckGo browser?

I've no experience of that browser I'm afraid.

I hope to be able to reduce the security checks in the next 24 hours. No promises though.

Thanks for your patience.
