MicroHobby publishing order?

Post by Einar Saukas »

Certain programs were published by MicroHobby in different ways.

For instance Astro was published as type-in and also appeared in MicroHobby tapes.

So what's the original publication in this case?

My guessing is as follows:
  • Each "MicroHobby Semanal" tape was a compilation of contents previously published as type-in on the paper magazine. For instance, "MicroHobby Semanal 029-032" was released AFTER paper magazines MicroHobby #29, #30, #31 and #32 were already published. Therefore if a certain title was published on both paper magazine MicroHobby #32 and tape compilation "MicroHobby Semanal 029-032", then the paper magazine version was the original publication. Except if the program wasn't appropriate to be published as type-in, in which case it only appeared in the compilation.
  • What if the same program appeared on both "MicroHobby Cassette" and "MicroHobby Semanal"? Can we always assume one of them was the first publication (which one?) or do we have to check each case?

I don't remember a program included in both cassette editions (as many of you know, I usually open MH threads of both and I haven"t come across any), so there won't be any problem on this.

But if there's any, in this case if it's in MH Semanal that means it was published on paper first.

BTW about these titles:

Program Editor de Directorios was originally a type-in from MicroHobby #169 page 16.

Does anybody have information about the others?

Catalogo ampliado (https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/3 ... o_Ampliado) was published in MH n170, p16.

Oxigen Alert (https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/2 ... ygen_Alert) wasn't published by MH

Reading here:
https://foro.speccy.org/viewtopic.php?t=1804
seems it's a recovered game that was intended to be published by MH but for unknown reasons wasn't published.

Master Copy (https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/3 ... aster_Copy) was published in MH 170, p60:

Edit: a good utility is MHoogle, to search in the contents of all MH issues: https://mhoogle.speccy.org/mhoogle.php

Capitales (DB Entry) was originally a type-in program at Microhobby magazine issue 170 (May 1988), page 65. As noticed, I'll do the corresponding changes for this entry.

I'll also apply magazine references to the other entries, like Filtros.

"La Moto" was also intended to be published by MicroHobby, but they didn't - or so I believe, unless I'm quite sure not having any recall of this particular videogame in no issue or cover tape of this magazine.

Luiz Mezquita Raya was his author (the same of Dinamic's "Cobra's Arc") and made other programs (games and tools - see here) totally uMIA until they were rescued some months ago; read this thread in speccy.org forum: https://foro.speccy.org/viewtopic.php?p ... ers#p54288
