Re: Show It! (forum game)
Off-topic but amusing: "Wheelie" was released in 1983, and Crash's review says: "'The makers boast that Wheelie has some of the best graphics you're ever likely to see on a Spectrum. I'd like to think that there's still room for improvement as time goes by."
That statement must have been laughable even by 1984. And damn, we could show them some things now.

Re: Show It! (forum game)
Two valiant attempts, Firelord, but I'm sorry to say they both break the rule:
I'm starting to wonder if the rule should be scrapped? What do you think, folks? I added the rule to make the game more fun and a little more challenging, but I don't want it to be a burden. It's been tripping up a lot of players, because you can't really infer it by observing the game being played. Maybe it's unwanted and annoying? I still think it's a good rule, but I want everyone to enjoy the game. If you guys think the game would be better without the rule then perhaps we ought to scrap it? Feel free to suggest changes!Lee Bee wrote: ↑Sun Jan 01, 2023 12:59 am The game you choose may not contain the key word in its title. That rule is there to prevent long chains of games using the same word over and over, to prevent sequels being used, and to prevent players just searching for titles containing that word, instead it challenges players' knowledge of what's actually in games!
Re: Show It! (forum game)
I think it's a good rule - it's too easy to search the archive for a key word. The only problem is that you/we will probably need to explain it relatively regularly to noobs (as you had to with me a few days ago), but hopefully less and less as time passes.

I’m in favor of keeping the rule, otherwise it’s too easy and could result in an infinite loop.

Yes. I thought I did that..
