Show It! (forum game)
With the Guess the Screen$ game currently on hold, I thought I'd try inventing a new forum game we can play.
I wanted to make something that's easy and fun to play, but where anyone can join in at any time - no "correct" answers, and no waiting for question-setters to return!
So here we go. I'm not sure if this will catch on, or even if the game will work, but I present to you a game I call: "Show It!"
Rules:
1. Post the title of the game above
2. Within that title, highlight a word in bold
3. Post a screenshot from another game SHOWING that word!
4. The word must not appear in the title of this game.
5. Add the title of the new game
Let me get things going to give an example…

@Lee Bee
Can you explain what the "AM" has to do with the Trashman screenshot? Don't get it.
Also, I think the bold letters can be kinda hard to see, maybe Italics would be better?

Re: Show It! (forum game)
Yeah, I don't get it too. Some steps are much too abstract. Make some more clear rules.
Re: Show It! (forum game)
I'm having trouble too:
You extracted the word CLAN from "Magicland Dizzy" (agreed, underlining would be clearer to show this), so then the War Game screenshot should have the word CLAN in it? But I can't see that word in the screenshot.

Re: Show It! (forum game)
Well, when Lee said "showing" that word, he meant it graphically, not as text. So in that strategy game screenshot, I guess the houses in the little village somehow equal a "clan" ... so yeah, it all seems a bit ambigious.
Still, it's just a game without anything to be won, so we shouldn't be too picky.

(I picked the loading screen because from the in-game screens you'd not understand)

Re: Show It! (forum game)
Underlining the word is fine. Please feel free to modify the the rules as you go along. This is how you develop a game, with testing. I didn't even know if the game would work, maybe it won't. That's up to you guys to decide.
I didn't spend too much time thinking about those first few examples I gave. I really just wanted to try and quickly show how the game worked, rather than trying to play it well! With "clan" I just wanted to demonstrate that you can use parts of words. Admittedly, there probably wasn't a clear depiction of a "clan" in the War Game screenshot and for that I apologise profusely
Sometimes it may be tricky, so you will just have to be creative, or do something a little silly. That's what I did with the Transhman screenshot. The screenshot was supposed to represent morning (AM), since the game takes place in the morning. I'm probably not very good at this game

Re: Show It! (forum game)
Thanks Peter! I'm so sorry, this isn't quite how this particular game is meant to be played. (My apologies, I should probably have tried to make the rules easier to understand )
Using the word "blood", as you have, is correct! However, the screenshot you post has to then DEPICT that object, so we need to SEE a game with some blood on screen! (So this isn't purely a text game.)
Another little rule (which you broke ) is that the game you post a screenshot of may not feature the word in the title. So, in this case, you can't use any game with "blood" in the title. I added that rule to keep the game moving forward and prevent getting caught up on the same word (for example, players just going from one "Dizzy" game to another).
This all may sound very complicated, but it's actually quite a simple game, once you understand it!

Re: Show It! (forum game)
I see the bait and I will not take it!
Instead, here's... "it":
There I was, wondering how to tackle this one. Gauntlet II has that thing that will make you "it", but then "IT" appears on screen, and that's disqualified. The Addams Family doesn't feature Cousin It. So I turned to that other IT. What does it stand for? What doesn't it stand for. It stands for commitment, it stands for audacity, it stands for courage in the face of... Roy! Put that comic down and help out here, and don't just say "have you tried turning it off and on again?" So, where are the options? Technician Ted's factory only makes the chips (and hopefully MUDL are making defective 6502s that'll put a spanner in Commodore's works). Make-a-Chip also only goes as far as designing the chip. Specventure is based inside an actual Spectrum... but it's full of bugs, and it won't work properly until the end of the game.
So what you get instead is... Moley Christmas, because that's very clearly the IT department of Gremlin Graphics.
And after that incredibly roundabout way of getting to the next game, I'm going to put Douglas Reynholm's electric sex pants on my head. After he's been wearing them for a week.
Spectribution: Dr. Jim's Sinclair computing pages.
Features my own programs, modified type-ins, RZXs, character sets & UDGs, and QL type-ins... so far!

↑ LOL ↑
Just for clarification, let me stipulate some minor rules:
1) Numbers may only be used when the game's title is only numbers (eg 1942)
2) For all other words, the word must be graphically DEPICTED in the screenshot
3) If the word also appears written on the screen, that's fine
5) But you can't choose a game with the word in the TITLE
(That last rule is to stop the same word being used over and over, and also to prevent players from lazily searching for games containing that word. The result is that you have to use your memory and knowledge to think about what games you've seen things in!)
