Vortex Tracker - why does it change Windows colours?

On the creation of AY or Beeper music, including the packages used to do so.

Vortex Tracker - why does it change Windows colours?

Post by Lee Bee »

I love Vortex Tracker, but there's something I can't figure out…

Ever since the program was taken over by ivanpirog, when you launch the program, it universally changes the Windows 7 text selection colour to a dull blue colour. In the past, this reverted back to normal when you closed the program, but in the latest 2.6 version, it takes a system restart to get Windows back to normal again. (The particular Windows 7 setting is located in Window Color > Advanced Appearance Settings).

Anyone know what causes this? Just a bug? I'm guessing it's not a sign of malware, given that it's on GitHub so the code must be public?

Hi @Lee Bee,

Probably the best thing to do is get an account on GitHub and raise an issue.

Thanks, and I'll probably do that at some stage. But, being as paranoid as I am about malware, I'd rather have someone other than the author reassure me that this behavior doesn't appear malicious (like some kind of clipboard logger). I may raise this on a more security-oriented site—but thought I'd try here first because this community is full of exceedingly clever computer nerds whose skills never fail to impress me :-)
