Is this magazine MIA?

https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/index.p ... x-magazine

If so, I can upload all issues in D80 format. ;-)

(You can run D80 files in FUSE emulator.)

Nice one Pav.

Thanks a lot for the effort on the screenshots, I can add those easily.

I can't get Fuse, Spin nor Spectaculator to recognise d80. What am I doing wrong?

Can this file format be converted to one already recognised by ZXDB? (And easy for most to open)

D80 is the Didaktik M/Kompakt disk format. You will need to emulate that machine as well in order to run it. I did it years ago with RealSpectrum for DOS, which emulates it natively, but today you would need to use DOSBox to run it.

On the other hand, I don't see how Fuse could emulate the Didaktik. There's even no option in the machine menu.

Only FUSE can handle D80 format. (and old RealSpectrum, how Alessandro said)

Here is a solution for FUSE emulator.
1) At first you need to download proper ROM File: http://maps.speccy.cz/temp/didaktik80.rom
2) Set this ROM file in the emulator (Options/Select ROMS / Peripheral ROMS / Didaktik 80)
3) Select Spectrum 48K model (F9)
4) Check Didaktik 80 interface (Options / Peripherals / Disk / Didaktik 80 Interface)
5) Open D80 file (File / Open )
6) Reset computer (F5)
7) Type RUN + ENTER

It wouldn't be easy, you would need to rewrite all basic loaders and then we wouldn't have original software anymore. :)

If you wish to fully emulate the Didaktik Kompakt in Fuse (thanks Pavel for pointing that out!) you should navigate to Select ROMs > Machine ROMs > Spectrum 48K and choose this file - this is the 16K ROM image of the DK's operative system.

Alessandro You don't need to use DOSBox to run RealSpectrum any more, there's a version I use that runs on modern Windows. I think this site is where I got it from.

Thanks fellas.

It turns out that 'Didaktik D80 disk' is already a format type in ZXDB  , my fault for trying to do the spreadsheet in a slightly beery post World Cup knock out haze.

Yep, there were many files in D80 format at old WoS.

Of course I know RealSpectrum (latest revision v0.98.14 - Dec 31st 2009, the same you mention) can still run on later Windows systems; I even stated it in the Spectrumpedia six years ago. However, on my configuration it can only run in a 640x480 window, or stretched and deformed fullscreen, and I prefer to run programs in a window normally anyway, not to mention the frequent stuttering in sound output; whereas the DOS version will run in a 1280 x 960 window when windowresolution is set to 1280x960 and output to overlay in the DOSBox configuration file, without any problems with audio output.

Nowadays I use it rarely for some specific task, for instance recording of AVI files. Trailer videos for my games on my YouTube channel were made from such recordings combined together with editors like VideoPad.
