Re: Clone Wars (Breakout): vote
Excellent Poll.
I don't normally with these 'rank' games but...
1. Batty, partly as it was free on the covertape and also because its just so nicely polished. I just wish it was a bit easier!
2. Throu The Wall. The classic.
3. Arkanoid. A great game I could not decide between the original and sequel. Lots of nice options but a bit too tricky.

1. Arkanoid
2. Arkanoid II: Revenge of Doh
3: Batty
I enjoyed playing Hotshot, but it doesn't feel enough of a traditional breakout game for me to vote for it. So I didn't

1. Arkanoid II - Revenge of Doh
2. Batty
3. Thro' The Wall
Batty is for sure the prettiest of the lot, and the speed is impressive too.
But ultimately I think Batty is let down by the insane difficulty. The level design could have been better.
Honorable mention to Arkanoid Back to Basic.

Re: Clone Wars (Breakout): vote
Arkanoid 2 probably.
Arkanoid was good but I remember the controls being a bit squiffy and Batty was a bit too hard and visually unclear at times.
I really liked the demo of Hot Shots but found the main game a bit underwhelming.

On a side note (no pun intended), I could never get on with the Pong-style breakout games that had you facing/firing left and right. Instead of up/down.
Not sure why. Maybe I should've tried putting my TV on its side or something.

I don't have anything cool to put here, so i'll just be off now to see a priest with yeast stuck between his teeth and his friend called Keith who's a hairpiece thief...
Re: Clone Wars (Breakout): vote
It's a bit harsh on the regular Breakout clones to be compared with the Arkanoid ones. Sure, the basic concept is the same, but you might as well be sticking R-Type into the Scramble poll on those grounds.
Ah well:
1. Batty
2. Arkanoid
3. Ballbreaker

Re: Clone Wars (Breakout): vote
Batty got this, unsurprisingly, by a long shot! 10 votes!
Two games sit in a rather distant second place, Arkanoid and Krakout, 3 votes each.
Then for joint third, 2 votes each for: Arkanoid - Revenge Of Doh and Thro' The Wall.
And then, 1 vote each for Ballbreaker II and Tournament Arkanoid.
Batty also dominates the proportional results:
Batty by Hit-Pak 26
Arkanoid by Imagine 13
Arkanoid - Revenge Of Doh by Imagine 11
Thro' The Wall by Sinclair Research 3
Hotshot by Addictive Games 2
Megaball by Digital Reality 2
Ball Breaker by CRL 1
Demolition by Dorling Kindersley Software/Sinclair Research 1
Traz by Gamebusters 1

Normally I'm not the type of guy who plugs someone's videos, but I've just watched this one of a German guy on YouTube who I've been following for some time now as he is quite entertaining and funny. He also has an English channel where he speaks English with a strong German accent, but it's quirky and he isn't above some mild swearing when things go wrong, so maybe some of you will enjoy watching him.
I didn't want to create a new thread for this, which is why I post it here instead.
Today he uploaded a video of him playing Batty
