Never really cared for R-Type, but Rex, RoboCop, Renegade, and Robin of the Wood are all excellent candidates. And, of course, Zythum (by Mirrorsoft).

Runestone - Games Workshop

I spent many an hour playing this and getting nowhere.

From the list we have for ‘R’ there are some real gems. For me I’m going to go for Rambo 3. Not because it’s a great game, but, because of what it reminds me of. Every lunch time at school we’d go round my mates house and load up Rambo and the 4 of us would take it in turns to see who could get the highest score. When it wasn’t my turn I’d unwrap my cheese and branston sandwiches and tuck in. My mate also had a great Casio keyboard and we’d eqch take it in turn to try and play Axle-f. Happy Days indeed.

Red Moon, brilliant Level 9 text adventure.

Roller Coaster. Not the best game ever, but it's a cute game with lots of hours of fun.

Those will count as R. Common prefixes like 'The' and 'A' are disregarded.

After sitting out of the Q vote due to not knowing any of the games, I’m going to have to do a bit of thinking to decide what to vote here. The ones that jumped out straight away were, Robin of the Wood, Renegade, Rampage, R-Type and err, Rock Star Ate My Hamster, spent so many hours playing those games.

Dunno, [mention]PeteProdge[/mention] might be having a break. I've sent him an email to check what the crack is, if we don't hear owt either way then one of us should take it over - it'd be a shame to stop at R.

I couldn't agree more.
There are certain games that have some special charm, which is not easy to define.
Roller Coaster is one of those games, unpretentious but very addictive.
btw, the list of the best games beggining with R, will be impressive, so let's vote, I'm starting to be a little impatient.
