Martijn's old WoS contained more than 800 scene demos, but they were stored all together without much information, under a single genre "Demo". Although ZXDB catalogued many more demos, they were all kept basically the same way.
Not anymore! In the last few weeks, we made a huge effort to improve the organization of these demos:
- Instead of just a generic genre "Demo", ZXDB has now different genres to classify demo programs. This new classification is compatible with the classification system you will find in all current demoscene sites ("Intro" for demos with limited size, "Music" for music collections, "Invitation" for demoparty invites, etc).
- ZXDB now contains almost 100 demoparties, with information about demo programs that participated, their compo category and ranking. For instance Chaos Constructions 2018.
- Likewise each demo program now shows the corresponding demoparty (or competition) where it participated, category and ranking. For instance here. In particular, the advanced search option at SpectrumComputing homepage now offers the option to filter searches by "Demoscene Compo Category" too.
- Now we have almost 1,000 links to Demozoo and vice-versa, and almost 1,500 to other demoscene sites (mainly Pouet and ZXAAA).
As I already mentioned before, the idea is NOT to compete with demoscene specialized sites. It's the opposite! We reorganized the demo section of ZXDB so we can work closer with demoscene sites, more easily collaborate with them and complement the information they have.
