Reviews for Cyberball (#1194)

My god what a mess! The gameplay is so slow and the sound effects are dreadful, makes more use in the tank shooter than an American Football game!

Cyberball is a sorry excuse of an arcade conversion, probably one of the worst on the Spectrum! Way to go Domark....way to go!

There have been many bad arcade ports on the Spectrum, this might be one of the worst. The music is nice, I'll give it that, but it plays nothing like the arcade game. It plays at a painfully slow frame rate, the keys are unresponsive and half the time I don't even know who has the ball or where the ball is. It's also hard on your ears as well as your eyes, what on earth is with the sound in this game. I'm not sure if Stephen Wood was the programmer or graphics artist or what he did with the game but the cassette inlay states it was programmed by Quixel, who also done Licence to Kill which was a very decent game, so for them to program this disaster a year later is astonishing! This has to be among the worst arcade conversions on any system let alone the Spectrum.

The worst Domark arcade coin op conversion. Painfully slow and unfairly hard to play.
When you start the game it looks and sounds good, then you start playing it and the letters C, R, A, P, begin to gather in your mind and form a word. And that's the best word to describe this game. Sorry.

I never bought this on the Spectrum and so when I did play it on an emulator the first time around I thought it was an emulation issue, surely it cannot be this slow. But no, it is the real deal and it is truly gutting. :(

The arcade game isn’t like the most spectacular game but it was good fun, so I hoped and somewhat expected this to be just as fun, but it is not and far from it in fact.

The slow pace is a killer and it is not the only problem the game suffers from. It is unresponsive for the most part, the graphics are poor and the sound is terrible. There is a lot wrong with this port.

This was a real shame. This could have been a really fun game to play had it lived up to the same thrill and excitement of the arcade game, not perfectly but just as fun at least, but it is a million miles away from it. Very very poor and very disappointing.

Complete rubbish. One of the very worst sports games you'll find on the ZX Spectrum. The concept is a bit daft but at least the arcade version is worth playing, this definitely is not.
