Reviews for Chieftan (#13322)

Review by The Dean of Games on 12 Jun 2020 (Rating: 2)

Chieftan was originally called just Assault, but for a reason only known by the authors and folks involved the name changed to Chieftan. The game was published as type-in in the Giant Book of Spectrum Arcade Games.
It's mainly a shoot 'em up with just one tank cruising one of four platforms (or roads) above you. You control the artillery cannon in the bottom of the screen and shoot a load at a time.
If you miss 3 shots you lose the game.
There is no scoring, no levels so it's a bit pointless.

You're shooting tanks and after five misses your game ends. As The Dean states no scoring makes it pointless. A high score board would have been the only redeeming thing about this game and it doesn't even have that.
