Reviews for Golf (#15894)

Here's one I've never seen before, it's from Meow Micros and written by Mick Fowler, which both their libaries being the same I can assume Meow was Fowler's own self-publishing label. The majority of games written by him are MIA but four games have survived via two compilations containing two games each. This one is Golf which will be followed by Bar Billiards. This you would think given its age would be similar to the majority of early golf games, just like two games I reviewed recently, Golf from Virgin Software and Moortown, but oh no this is a very different. Instead the game gives you a different perspective of view, like a first-person view, kind of how the Leaderboard games play which come to think of it I don't think I've reviewed any of them yet. Also, each hole is randomised which is very nifty and very clever. So you have your view and you can play your shot from the tee to the green on this randomised hole and it's very different and very nice, except when you have bunkers and water that is. Say you have a hole 230 yards and it's a par 4 with a bunker diectly in front if you, I'm just gonna use my driver to get it over the bunker and on to the green, nope it hits the bunker. Next hole there's water to your right where the green is, about 90 yards away from the 187 yard hole, surely with a 3 iron you will get it over the water, nope, it's in the water. Basically the ball doesn't travel in the air, it rolls on the ground, you are essentially putting it from the tee to the green. You have to work your way to the green AROUND the bunkers and AROUND the water, that would be why even a 180 yard hole is a par 4. What a load of tripe, I mean there's bad golf games and then there's what ever this is! Next up we have Bar Billiards and later on we're going to have Soccer and I dread to think how they play compared to this!
