Reviews for Enduro (#1627)

Review by Raphie on 04 Feb 2009 (Rating: 3)

Enduro is a simple racing game. The object of the game is to pass a certain amount of cars within one lap around the track, do so and and race another lap with the amount of cars to pass increasing. The gameplay is very easy to get into and can be quite fun but it gets boring from time to time and it's rather easy to lose interest in it after some many games or so. But worth a try anyway.

This is a reasonable port of Activision's classic racing game for the Atari 2600 to the Spectrum.

The graphics are drab and the game is basically just one long slog of overtaking car after car only broken up with occasional night or fog represented by most of the track being obscured and a low contrast palette.

It wasn't a particularly great game when it first came out and time hasn't done it any favours. Although reasonably faithful to the original, it suffers in comparison against the likes of Chequered Flag and Full Throttle that were out at the time, let alone later games like TT Racer and Chase HQ.

A horrible port of an ancient Atari 2600 racing game. Looked and played bad even in its time - no competition for other oldies like Pole Position. Nowadays it is just plain awful. Avoid like Ebola virus.

Inspired on the Atari 2600 version, could have been better converted, but it's still a fun game. The graphics are rough and there's nothing aesthetically interesting, but it is fun to play from time to time, the speed and passing cars creates some mild excitement.

A decent enough port of the 2600 game but I imagine it's better there because this does nothing for me. You pass cars, and that's it. It never really appealed to me and I got pretty bored of this fairly quickly. Activision had great 2600 ports around this time, but this is far from one of them.
