Reviews for Diver: Mystery of the Deep (#17888)

Its double emulation time as this game allows a Speccy to emulate a Game and Watch game, Diver, even down to graphical representations of the control buttons
A strange piece of nostalgia that succeeds in all it sets out to achieve.
One for the Game and Watch Spectrum emulation fans (there surely must be loads).

Well now - this is an odd one!
Strange game-play. But very close to the original game-and-watch look and feel.
Nice effects to spice things up a bit.
These (multi-)colour effects surely were not part of the original Nintendo gadget, were they?
Bottom line:
Nicely done - just a bit on the repetitive side as far as gameplay is concerned.

2004 - Horrorsoft

Another game based on the handheld Nintendo games from the early 80's.
The original Nintendo game was called ' Octopus' and was one of the most popular.

Like in 'Kool Eggz' the other Nintendo based game by the same guys, the game plays well and has a nice presentation, specially in the options menu, but as an emulator it falls far from its objective. It doesnt have the feel of the handheld original, something quite possible to obtain.
It leaves a lot of room for someone's elses shot.

Spectrum version of an old hand-held game. Competently done, but as all games of this kind, very simple. Good for some no-frills fun and/or if you are a hand-held nostalgic.
