Can you see why I hand-picked this one as well? Hmmmmm. It's from Magnum Computing's 60 Spectrum Games compilation in 1986 and is from author Grant Reekie, and this too is the only game he wrote. Now I wasn't expecting much in my previous review Bomber Boris, can you see a pattern emerging here, but that turned out to be pretty good. This, again I'm not expecting much other than you're the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, you build a party, you make decisions, you make a twat of yourself, your country hates you and then you lose the election and must resign from your party as a result. I wasn't far wrong. In this game you make decisions in order to become "popular", and by this you gain percentage. The options we have in the menu are, we can visit a foreign country, visit towns in Britain, appear on chat show because of course we can, make publicity campaign, make political broadcast and insult the opposition party, which turns out to be Bad Sams Party, odd. And of course we have to try and be "popular" so immediately going on the offence and insulting the opposition is likely the wrong choice to make, but of course I picked it anyway because I'm Prime Minister and I'm a loony. I say his policies stink, he says I stink more than him, he has the best insult and gains 1%, yup this is the level we are dealing with in this game. Next I visit Brixton, and if I go on a short journey to Brixton and I am liked, I will earn 2%, so what do I have to do to be liked exactly? As it turns out nothing as it is entirely by chance. Well none of that matters because I am very well liked as it turns out, lovely. Next I did a political campaign and gained 7%, nice, now I'm on 23%. I then tried to appear on a chat show but you need at least 50% and then to make a political broadcast you need at least 60%, you know what that means? More publicity campaigns and insults, oh and I visited America because we're pals and all that. The first three insults I did were exactly the same, your policies stink, you stink more, you lose 1%, that was literally the most interesting option of them all and I'm tired of it already, tell you what else I'm tired of, this game. Then I visited Edinburgh and no-one likes me, what a surprise, then there was an ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT!! YES!! It was unsuccessful but I lost another 2% and adding the 3% we lost by simply stepping foot in Edinburgh, that's 5% down. Eventually nobody likes me in Japan, nor in Cardiff, and then I blow my remaining money on publicity campaigns and visits to America and Brixton and now I'm skint, all that's left to do is insult the opposition, after which there are finally other insults shown, until inevitably I reach the magic 0%, and nothing happens, what? Insult the party again, OOPS!!, I think I'm toast now. Indeed the Baddy Party have taken over and decide to outlaw Spectrums, the C64 fanboy bastards! Well that was a waste of time, it's tedious, repetitive and almost entirely no fun at all, who'd want to be a politician eh? I think I'll quickly get back to Bomber Boris now.
