Reviews for City Patrol (#21616)

1982 - Macronics - By Don Priestley

Here you can see the quality on Don's skill as a programmer still in its early days.

Guide your spaceship thru a city and destroy the enemy suicide ships. Beware not to destroy any buildings.

The detail of the city moving in parallax-scrolling behind you is genius.

Thank you Don.

I was to look at the Nigel Stuart version but that didn't work for some reason, so here's Russell Marks's 128K conversion of the ZX81 game instead. Now this was written originally by Don Priestley, yes that Don Priestley. But I got to say, this was not good. It's pretty boring waiting for something to appear to shoot it, it was more fun shooting the buildings even though they dock you points and the keys are bonkers. Why on earth is N left and bloody J for right, left and right controls should be BESIDE each other not above one another. Madness. So no I couldn't get on with this one at all.
