Reviews for Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (#2475)

Not a resounding port of the Atari arcade game it has to be said. It's not really bad, it's just not really good, like REALLY not good. The game was written by Paragon who later became Tiertex, responsible for some of the worst games on the ZX Spectrum, this isn't amongst that category but it's just a very uneventful port that lacks any excitement from the arcade game.

I had this game back in the day and never liked it....and I still don't. It's a shame this is a real disappointment.

IJATTOD is a conversion from the Atari coin-op, written by the same Paragon team which would be later known as Tiertex, author of other good and great conversions (720°, Street Fighter, Strider, Thunder Blade, Alien Storm etc.).

The action is frantic and in the main levels, where you have to rescue the children slaves, does really not give you a moment of pause! Luckily the other two sections are less intense, although not a cakewalk either. Nice conversion of an interesting, although not outstanding, coin-op.

Not great, but it's not like it's another poor US Gold arcade port, there's actually some enjoyment in this and for me it's the best of the Indiana Jones games. Pretty decent I'll say.

Slightly debatable collision detection, thugs appearing out of nowhere, high difficulty and easy deaths make Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom a rather flawed conversion that could have been very good. In fact, I don't dislike it, in spite of all the defects.
