Reviews for Labyrinth (#2792)

Nostalgic for me - one of the early games we had on the old Speccy.
Classic "3d maze", written mainly in BASIC, it captures the essence of those times.
Looks basic but neat, and is fast enough to not be frustrating, unlike some examples of this genre - but certainly not as fast and slick as other examples.
Good execution, especially for the time, but very little substance.

1983 Axis Software (UK)

I don't think I owned this game back in the day. If I had it maybe it got pass me because I never really liked 3D maze games. Nonetheless this 1983 Axis effort is quite impressive.
The game is written in BASIC, but moves quite fast and works very well.

When you start the game you are allowed to choose the size of the maze. After that your goal is to get out of the maze in the least steps and time possible. Every move you make will be recorded and in the end it's possible to view every step you did.
While playing there is a map to access with the H key, that shows your current position in the maze and the direction your heading.
All this details are very well thought out and make the game very playable.
Also the maze is designed with very good taste, with cyan and blue colors, traced with black & white lines.
The game itself is rather easy, due to the access of a map, but you can opt not to use, making the game harder.
Overall a great 3D Maze game, probably the best written in BASIC I ever playable. Well Done.
