Reviews for Powerama (#3856)

Nice budget shmup and probably one of the only Power House games worth playing!

This is inferior as in terms to graphics compared to 1942, 1943 and Xevious but in gameplay terms its actually pretty good and pretty enjoyable. Not bad at all for £1.99 considering 1943 was released the same year at £8.95.

In all its a pretty good budget shmup and really worth trying.

An average vertically scrooling budget shoot-em-up in which you command a craft that looks suspiciously like a distorted smiley face.

Graphics and sound are pretty bland, but the game is competently programmed and should keep you busy if you fancy some mindless alien blasting. However, even in the same league of budget shoot-em-ups, there are better titles available for the Spectrum - Gunstar, Tornado ECM, Star Farce, Xarax, Octan etc.

I think someone saw Light Force and tried to clone it but failed on all accounts. But saying that it's a million times better than The Power House's other shooter Freedom Fighter and the vast majority of their catalogue for that matter.
