Reviews for Starbyte (#4855)

The main sprite is cute, it resembles the star of Abu Simbel Profanation, and in fact it's the typically impossible platform game, a further development in the genre: meaning that this time it's terribly hard even only succeeding in jumping laterally. I can imagine the promotional material for this game. Starbyte - the challenge: will you be able to jump sideways? ?An eloquent experiment in crapness.

Another Jet Set Willy inspired game. To be honest there is Abu Simbel Profanation thrown in, probably the main inspiration, because it looks very similar. Because comparisons end here. Profanation plays extremely well compared and besides being very hard to play is also very playable just demands patient and dedication.
Starbyte on the other hand, seems a BASIC written game on speed. The disjointed movements, the unresponsive controls, the crude animation, the flickering... Dont get me wrong, I quite enjoy BASIC games but this is not one. So why does it play like one? And why those loooong beeps??
