Reviews for Silverwolf (#6974)

This is a fascinating and challenging text adventure, that I absolutely loved playing. The text is very well written and the graphics are pretty.

The storyline is reminiscent of Arthurian legend. The setting is the West Country, c. 3000 BC. The world is matriarchal. In fact, the five main characters in the game are all women or girls. The former just ruler Silverwolf has been killed, but her friends have discovered that her reincarnation is a twentieth century schoolgirl called Petra Stone.

The first part involves a team of two women who must find a sword hidden somewhere on a strange island. One of them is a shape-changer who can turn into any animal or bird she sees. This is a fantastically enjoyable part of the game, but it produces some very tricky puzzles.

In the second part, two warriors, armed with sword and bow, must find the Water of Memory, and give it to Petra, so that she will remember who she truly is (namely Silverwolf), in a somewhat Proustian sense.

Some of the puzzles are extremely difficult. Others are quite easy. There are also lots of riddles, but you are allowed multiple guesses.

The sense of atmosphere, the sense of being is a carefully organised otherworld, the sense of exploration are absolutely superb. This is a true gem of a text adventure. I recommend it to everyone!
