N.E.X.O.R. ========== Nemisis Experimental and Operational Research. THE COUNTDOWN HAS BEGUN... One man stands alone to defend the ultimate weapon "NEMISIS" from the Andromedan robot forces. He has to escape with the "NEMISIS" intact, or start the countdown to self-destruct. Time is running out, every second counts. . . In the later stages of the Andromedan War, Earth's military forces, having driven the invaders out of most of their galaxy, were faced by a well defended group of systems still occupied by Andromedan forces. This last stand by Andromeda, The Orion Stronghold, had proved unassailable and a situation of stalemate had evolved. Earth's military were faced with a constant threat of re-invasion from a stronghold they could not defeat. The only way to eradicate the danger was to cut off the line of supply from Andromeda to the Orion Stronghold. Many years ago the Andromedans had constructed a huge hyperspace link to Orion, through which they could move the vast quantities of ordnance and supplies required to support Orion. Thus was spawned the project to create a weapon to destroy the hyperspace link, codenamed NEMISIS. Soon after the project's completion, a conference was held on Earth between the N.E.X.O.R. staff and the military planners, to decide how and when Nemisis should be deployed. Meanwhile the Andromedans launched a massive surprise attack on the N.E.X.O.R. planet, managing to wipe out the N.E.X.O.R. defences. Inside the N.E.X.O.R. complex was one survivor, the head of N.E.X.O.R. security, who had not left for the conference. With a platoon of Andromedan robots already invading the complex, it was obvious what he must do. The Nemisis device itself was constructed from five modules, and only two of each had been built; enough for the planned Nemisis strike to take place. Those ten modules must not be taken by the Andromedan troops, nor must the blueprints, held on magnetic tape, fall into their hands. The only way out of the N.E.X.O.R. complex that would not be covered by Andromedans would be via the Matter Transfer Beam, but its control panel was shattered by the vibrations of the attack. There is also a self-destruct system for the N.E.X.O.R. complex which, should it not be possible to recover the Nemisis modules, will destroy the complex and its contents. The magnetic tape of the blueprints MUST be recovered. Its hardened case could survive the blast of the self-destruct system, leaving it to fall into enemy hands. OBJECTIVES The object of the game is to prevent Nemisis and its blueprints falling into the hands of the enemy. You must get the M.T.B. working, searching the complex for a spare control panel for the M.T.B., find the blueprints and beam them to safety. There now remains the problem of recovering the ten Nemisis modules, and beaming them away. At least one of each module is required to recover a complete Nemisis device, enabling the planned attack to be launched. This is the second objective. Any modules that fall into the hands of the enemy can be destroyed by the self-destruct system. There is a time limit here, as an Andromedan shuttle will soon be arriving to transport any captured modules away for examination. LOADING Spectrum: Type LOAD"" RETURN.
