Soccer Rivals is based on a board game format, but includes all the trials and tribulations of real football management. Instructions On main menu: List all options. (Action Squares) Posit = Position. S = Skill. I = Injury. Capacity = Ground Capacity x 1000. Cameras = How many security cameras you have. Form = Team Formation. GLKPR = Goalkeeper DFNDR = Defender MDFLD = Midfielder. ATTCK = Attack. Each players position is recorded by a marker, numbered one to three Action Squares Utilities This square allows you to purchase one of three important items. 1. Seats - Initial capacity is 10,000 but it can be increased up to 40,000 by buying seats at £50 each. 2. Cameras - You start the game with no security cameras. You can purchase up to 8 cameras for 10,000 each. Each camera can survey 5000 fans. If any of the crowd are not covered by cameras then crowd violence may occur. 3. Coach and Youth Team - Helps when landing on the extra training square and also allows players to join your team from the youth team. Choosing this option when you have already obtained a coach and youth team will give you the chance to part with them. The cost for a coach and youth team corresponds to the present division. Player for sale A player will be offered for sale to all managers. The players position and skill rating will be displayed together with a minimum sale price. Each Manager enters an individual bid with the person who landed on the square having a slight advantage. Note - When there are 2-3 human managers it is advised that the bids are entered blind to the other players. Sell a Player You can sell as many players as you like until you refuse an offer. You cannot sell an injured player. Lucky/Bad Day This square deals with momentary problems. A randomly chosen card is picked from a set of 15. Each card will either be bad where upon the amount shown will be debited from your account, or it could be good increasing your account. Squad Dilemma The square deals with the problems facing a squad. A randomly chosen card is picked from a set of 15. There are four types of card - New players, Retirements, Increased players skill, Decreased players skill. Extra Training Landing on this square gives you the chance to put any player of your squad through extra training. Any player that comes through training successfully will have their skill rating increased by one. Beware! choosing a player for extra training without a coach could result in his skill rating going down. Crisis Avoid this square at all costs. You will loose players. HIT THE TARGET Options 1. Throws dice automatically and moves your market accordingly. You will then be told what to do. You must wait through any computer moves. 2. Change Team. After choosing which team to change press: 1 = For Team - Swaps Team Around. 2 = Formation - Changes Formation (Displayed on Top Right - Hand of Page) 3 = A.T.S. - Automatic Team Selection. By pressing this key the computer scans the relevant team and places them in the best positions to match the current form. 0 = Exit - Return to main menu. 3. Fixtures - Shows fixtures for any chosen division. For = Formation. DF = Defence. MD = Midfield. AT = Attack. 4. Tables - After Choosing Which Division. WN = Won. DR = Drawn. GF = Goals For. GA = Goals Against. PT = Points. 5. Options - This allows you to change the control of players from human to computer or vice - versa. Also you can save your game from here. Matches Matches are Calculated as Follows: The home team gets an added advantage The team with the greater midfield should have more attacks. A strong defence should stop an attack by a week attack. A strong attack should score against a week defence. As in real football you are not guaranteed to win a match with the stronger team. Match Highlights To have the highlights of a match shown it must first be chosen from the fixtures option. A camera next to a fixture indicates that the highlights of that match will be shown once the Play Fixtures option is chosen.
