THE GAME

Travel to the outer reaches of the known cosmos to do battle with the legendary Firebirds. 
This race of intelligent yet savage creatures is intent upon the destruction of all 
humans, starting with YOU!

Fortunately, your Space-cruiser is armed with a quadruple photon cannon. Unfortunately, 
your warp drive is faulty, and can only be used in short bursts. If not used, you risk 
the drive firing without your consent, due to the energy build-up in the storage crystals. 
Warping renders your ship invincible, and any birds in your path will be killed.


LOADING

1. Connect a suitable cassette player to your Spectrum according to the User Manual.
2. Place the rewound cassette in the cassette player.
3. Type LOAD"" on your Spectrum, and press ENTER.
4. Press PLAY on the cassette player.

NOTE: Full loading instructions can be found in your Spectrum Manual.


PLAYING THE GAME

The birds attack in waves comprising 50 eagles and gulls, with each wave more difficult 
to defeat than the last. The small purple and blue gulls are easily despatched with 
a single blast from your cannon. The larger green eagles carry dangerous 'scatter bombs', 
which spread out up to five fragments. More unpleasant still are the Emperor birds. These 
large red creatures have shields to absorb multiple photon blasts. Occasionally 
a mega-bomb will warp out of hyperspace. These can be destroyed, but will explode on 
impact into a shower of deadly fragments. Take your place at the controls of your cruiser 
and start blasting!

Controls can be selected from option 3 on the menu. With joysticks, warp is activated by 
pressing 'W', and pause by pressing 'M'.

Additional keys are: SYMBOL SHIFT: Sound on/off, CAPS SHIFT and BREAK: Abort game.

After qualifying for a high-score, the high scores can be printed by pressing 'P', Saved 
('S'), or Loaded ('L').
