Stormlord II - Deliverance ========================== By Raf Cecco and Nick Jones ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC and Commodore 64/128 Computers GAME OBJECTIVE Stormlord must save as many fairies as possible from Hell and the Realm and carry them upward to Heaven. Demons will try to steal back the fairies on the higher levels. Stormlord will encounter numerous foes and obstacles on his way, and these must be fought with the abandoned weapons that litter the landscape left by lesser mortals who failed in their quest. THE STATUS AREA From left to right the status area is arranged as follows: 1. Lives. 2. Currently selected weapon (blank if no weapon is held). 3. Score. 4. Number of fairies so far saved. CONTROLLING STORMLORD AND HIS WEAPONS Stormlord can be controlled by either joystick or keys. Default control keys are: O ..................... Left P ..................... Right Q ..................... Jump A ..................... Crouch SPACE ................. Fire PAUSE ................. CAPS SHIFT & SYMBOL SHIFT simultaneously (Spectrum) RUN/STOP (Commodore 64) COPY (Amstrad) ABORT ................. Y,U,I,O & P simultaneously (Spectrum) RESTORE (Commodore 64) CONTROL, ENTER and ESCAPE (Amstrad) Alternatively, the first five keys may be redefined to suit personal taste, or a joystick may be used by selecting the appropriate option in the opening menu. Stormlord may jump to various heights by pressing JUMP more than once in quick succession (max of 3 presses). To pick up a weapon or save a fairy, simply walk or jump into them. Press keys 1,2,3,4 or 5 to cycle through the held weapons. (S-C64) To activate the currently held weapon hold down FIRE. You will discover in time how to effect the range of direction of certain weapons by careful use of the control keys or joystick. BONUS LEVEL In the bonus level Stormlord gets the chance to gain extra lives. The object of this level is to receive gifts from the fairies. However, as the fairies are rather shy Stormlord must first 'capture' them as they flutter in the air above his head. Once captured the fairies will drop a gold coin for Stormlord to collect. For every two coins collected Stormlord will be awarded an extra life. (So if you have, for example, four fairies, there is the potential to gain two extra lives). Stormlord will appear at the bottom of the playing area. He moves as normal, but his jumping ability is limited. By pressing FIRE Stormlord will lay a large heart at waist height directly in front of him. He can then jump up onto the heart to work his way up the screen towards the fairy. By pressing DOWN and fire simultaneously, the hearts will appear beneath his feet thus enabling Stormlord to walk forward horizontally. The hearts disappear very quickly so Stormlord must be very swift in his leaping abilities. After a short while a slow flying dragon will appear. Try to avoid touching the dragon as this will forfeit the bonus level and any further chance of gaining extra lives on this level. TAMING THE DRAGON In certain parts of the game you may be able to win the favour of a normally hostile dragon by preventing her eggs from falling to the ground. She will then carry Stormlord aloft and greatly assist him in mobility and firepower. SCORE CODES At the end of every two levels (i.e. one load), a specially encrypted score code will be displayed. You must make a note of this score code in order to gain access to the next load and the latter levels of the game. You will have four chances to enter a valid score code then the machine will reset.
