CYCLUS Cyclus 1 - Side A You are Cyclus, a humble snail who after being captured for culinary purposes decides to escape his sad fate. You must help Cyclus returns home avoiding the innumerable obstacles that await him. Cyclus will appear through a pipe and you must guide him to reach the other pipe that will allow him to advance to the next level and which will have a sign that says “Goal”. - Avoid the spikes and the enemies: spiders, snakes and bulldozers. - Cyclus moves independently, so you must guide him with the boxes on which he can walk or bounce to change his direction. - You will control a crosshair that you can move around the screen and by pressing fire you will place a box (if you press fire on a box that is already on the screen, you will be able to eliminate it). The pointer will not be able to pass through walls. - Each screen will have a limited number of boxes that can be placed. - The boxes have a countdown. Once the counter reaches zero, the box will disappear and return to your inventory. (If there are no boxes in your inventory, you will not be able to place any). - You can also bounce enemies and other characters that appear on the boxes. They will also be able to walk on them just like you. - In some screens a key will appear. Getting it, you can open closed doors that block the exit and procced. Be careful and think about when to collect them, since the doors will disappear instantly and it may not be the most convenient. In some screens you must use certain strategy when collecting and using the keys. - You will see mobile arrows that point upwards in some levels, in those places Cyclus will be able to climb the walls. (You can put a box over those arrows to avoid climb if you don't want that to). - You can’t cross the white walls but the bulldozers can do it (your cross hair will not be able to cross them either). Guide the bulldozers to destroy these walls, but be careful not to touch them, if you do, you will die. - The number of boxes and lives remaining, in addition to the level you are at, appears in the right panel. - This first load of the game consists of 35 levels. - If you load the game in 128K you will be able to enjoy ingame music. If you load it in 48K, the game will have beeper sounds only. TIPS: - Pause the game with the "pause" key whenever you want to be able to plan a level. - You can use boxes to block enemies. - In some of the screens where bulldozers appear, you will have to guide them and eliminate the walls. Be careful or you could get trapped and have to retry the level. - You can also use the boxes to block one of the snails on more advanced levels. - In this first load there is no time, so take your´s. Design, program & loading screen: Miguel Ángel Tejedor López (aka. Miguetelo) Side A music: Miguetelo. Controls: The controls are redefinable, although by default, if you choose "keyboard" the keys will be… O - Left P - Right Q - Up A - Down Espacio - Fire H - Pause G - Retry level You can choose Sinclair or Kempston Joystick if you wish. Cyclus 2 - Side B Cyclus continues to wander, but is still far from home. Will you help Cyclus? On each level, you must unlock the exit to the next level by taking all the coins around the screen and then guide him there. This second load has different mechanics. You control Cyclus, and although he will move independently, you can make him change direction and even jump between the walls of the scene. If you press the fire key, Cyclus will accelerate in the direction he is facing. Keep in mind that Cyclus will always be attached to the floor or wall through which it is moving. For example: - If Cyclus is moving horizontally to the right, if you press the "left" key, the snail will change its direction and move to the left and vice versa. - If Cyclus is moving vertically upwards and you press the “down” button, the snail will change its direction and move downwards (and vice versa). - If Cyclus is moving horizontally and you press the "up" button, Cyclus will jump vertically until it lands on the wall or ceiling above it. - If Cyclus is moving horizontally but "upside down" and you press the "down" button, Cyclus will jump vertically down to land on the ground below him. - The same will happen when you move vertically and press right or left. Watch out for the enemies that appear and keep in mind that each screen has a limited time to be completed. You must avoid at all costs touching the spikes that are scattered on the screen. Also avoid touching the green radioactive liquid or you will lose a life. The same will happen if you touch the lava that appears on some screens. In some levels the ground will be frozen, be careful when stepping on some areas as Cyclus will slip and move at a high speed. - In the panel below you can see the level you are in, the time left, the number of coins you have left to collect and the number of lives you have. - If you load the game in 128K you will be able to enjoy ingame music. If you load it in 48K, the game will have beeper sounds only. Design, programming & loading screen: Miguel Ángel Tejedor López (aka. Miguetelo) B Side music: Jimmy Devesa.
