BRICKS VS FRUITS ================ © 2021 Václav Janeček Epic bricks vs fruits battles await you in this new ZX Spectrum 48K game. Will the fruits be able to bomb the wall and get to its foundations? Quick plums, heavy melons and sour lemons, all this and much more awaits our brick defenders. The game features breathtaking multicolor graphics based on the ingenious Nirvana+ engine by Einar Saukas. Loving music by Roald Strauss will also be heard on machines equipped with the AY chip. And even the game loader itself is a small work of art. THE GAME ---------- First, you must complete twenty levels in which you will improve your masonry skills. Your opponent will be fruits controlled by the computer. After every five levels, you will receive a code that will allow you to continue from this point the next time you start the game. After completing all twenty levels, you will also have access to the free game. It is possible to play as both sides, inlcluding the variant of two players against each other, where one controls the construction of walls and the other the fruit bombing. The playing area is divided into columns. The player controlling the wall construction tries to fill the columns with bricks. The player controlling the fruit tries to destroy the wall to get his warriors to the foundations of the walls. The moment they succeed in one of the columns, this column is eliminated from the game. Once all columns are destroyed, the fruits win. However, if the fruits fails to complete this task within a relentless time limit, the bricks win. A fruit tray is displayed at the top of the screen. After a while, a new piece of fruit always appears in it. The player controlling the fruits then decides to which of the columns drop the first piece of fruit from the tray. Alternatively, they can throw the first piece of fruit out of the tray and not use it. And what happens when three identical pieces of fruit appear next to one another in the tray? In the right part of the screen there is a stack of brick types. Here, on the other hand, the player controlling the construction of the walls chooses which type of brick to insert into the playing field. But beware! You only have limited funds and the construction costs something. Fortunately, it is possible to earn a little extra by destroying fruits, and even there is a special brick type that generates money itself! CONTROLS -------- You can use either the keyboard or one of the many supported joystick types to control the game. The selection takes place in the game menu. In the game menu, it is also possible to redefine the keys for keyboard control. During the game, the M key always returns you to the menu. Fruit Left - Moves the arrow to the left Right - Moves the arrow to the right Top - Ejecting the first piece of fruit from the tray Down - Inserting the first piece of fruit in the arrowed column Shooting - Inserting the first piece of fruit into the arrowed column Bricks The control behind the bricks is twofold. It is possible to either first select the brick type on the right, press shooting, select a cell on the playing field, press shooting to insert a selected piece of brick, etc. The second option is to just select the fields in the playing area and insert the bricks directly using their number (this variant is of course only available when controlled using the keyboard). Left - Moves the cursor to the left in the playing area Right - Moves the cursor to the right in the playing area Up - Moves the cursor up in the playing area, or moves in the selection of the brick type Down - Moves the cursor down in the playing area, or moves in the brick type selection Shooting - Selects a brick from the stack or inserts the selected brick type into the selected field of the playing area Digits - Insert the brick type corresponding to the given number into the selected field of the playing area The color of the cursor in the playing area changes according to the situation.
