-------- To run Gnash-Man Party! you will need: * A GREY ZX Spectrum 128K +2 (preferably with an RGB cable) to drive one display * Either a ZX-VGA-JOY or ZX-HD to drive the second display * Joysticks (likely via adapters) in the two Sinclair joystick ports (Ghost #1 & Ghost #2) * Kempston (or compatible clone) joystick interface (the ZX-VGA-JOY has one built in), plus a joystick (Gnash-Man) * A K-55 joystick interface (i.e. genuine Kempston adapted to IN-31. Needs to have A7,A6,A5 detect. Then cut A5 detect and move to A3) (Ghost #3). * On loading, first check the two screens are working independently. They should show a different startup message, one for Gnash-Man and one for the Ghost players. In play, one screen will show the whole maze (for the Gnash-Man player) in full multicolour. The other screen will show scrolling close-up views of the maze around each of the three ghosts (for the Ghost players). * Note, if playing under emulation, choose an emulator such as 'Retro Virtual Machine' and its DEBUG mode, which lets you open windows that directly show the contents of the two video RAMs as screen displays. These can be shown side-by-side, or enlarged to fill the screens of a dual-monitor setup To play: * The Gnash-Man player starts the game by pressing FIRE on the joystick * Mazes are randomly generated so are different every time * Gnash-Man must eat all the dots to complete the level (2 points) * Eating a power-pill lets Gnash-Man temporarily catch ghosts (1 point each) * If Gnash-Man doesn't eat a dot for around 10 seconds he will run slow for a few seconds (you will here a heartbeat sound) * Typically a Ghost player enters play by pushing UP on the joystick to exit the Ghost House * A ghost has to catch Gnash-Man to score (2 points) * If Gnash-Man is ever directly in line with a Ghost, either horizontally or vertically, an arrow indicator on the Ghost screen briefly shows the direction the Ghost should go to catch him * A Ghost who has been eaten turns black and must return to the Ghost House in the middle of the maze to respawn * First player to 5 points or more wins Game code, graphics and sound are Copyright Ionian Games / Jason J.
