SuperMicro FIDE ZX81 1K is a "from scratch" rewriting for the Zeddy of the SuperMicro Chess engine "executable" version. This porting has been strenghtened and optimized so that despite the limitation of the hardware platform (cpu and ram) it runs pretty quickly still being not be so easy to beat for an amateur chess player. The engine is provided in various versions: "flexible", where the player decide each turn of each color if to force a move or let the computer decide the best one, and more "turnament oriented" ones where computer will move just white or alternatively black pieces. Reaction time should be acceptable and is usually in the order of few seconds as it would be in a blitz/rapid game. After loading, to move simply place the cursor with Q/A (up/down) and V/B (left/right) on the piece to move, grab it with "enter", then place the cursor to the target square and press enter again to release. In "flexible" versions if the move is an "empty" one (meaning start and end square are the same) computer will calculate the best move (and then place the cursor where it moved the piece from). For underpromotion press 5,6, or Y (respectively rook, bishop and knight) before the last enter. Even if an automatic check prevent 99% of errors, player is asked to play just legal moves. Computer will not cheat. More information at: http://smmax.sf.net. Happy SuperMicro Chess! _Stefano Maragò
