Re: Head Over Heels (Next)
I'm curious as to whether anyone here actually bought the physical release of Head Over Heels?
I have checked the Rusty Pixels website frequently since it was announced but have never seen its status change from "Out of stock". I'm not sure if it's just not out yet or if I missed it.

Re: Loading via tape
I have spent the last few weeks trying to load all of my games, and have uploaded details of 520 of them on my website here . I started by trying to load from the 128K personality, and found that about 66% would load ok. Then I tried the Net personality, and found that loading with the Next/+3 opti...

Re: Wonderland
UPDATE: An important bug fix has been made to Wonderland version 1.1.0 and the downloads for Wonderland and the Magnetic Scrolls Compilation have been updated. Previously, the game could crash when saving or loading a game position during playback of an animation. This has now been fixed. Thanks @M...

Re: Wonderland
Great, thanks. On my machine, the graphics which are animated turn into rectangular blobs and the game freezes. A saved file is created, but the game cannot load it up. Savind and loading is otherwise fine. Just to make sure, do you have a "real" Spectrum Next or a compatible system (e.g....

Re: Wonderland
@Magic Knight That is not a known problem. I just tested saving the game in the CSpect emulator when having a running animation and that worked fine. Tonight I will also test on actual hardware and see if I can reproduce the problem. Thanks :) Great, thanks. On my machine, the graphics which are an...

Re: Wonderland
Thanks for getting it working on the Next. As I mentioned in another thread, saving the game in a room with animations crashes the program. Is this a known problem?

Re: Wonderland
Wonderland looks great. I bought it for my Amstrad 1512 over thirty years ago. The memory would be eaten up very quickly, and even running it without the animations and maps, etc. still would not be enough. I think I tried it in Dosbox and the same thing happened. Finally, I might be able to play th...

Re: RetroPie General Discussion
I'm currently struggling with WHDLoad and Amiberry: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/30448/amiga-whdload-amiberry-black-screens Edit. Having done some more research I think those WHDLoad files don't contain the game files. Will check in morning. Have you tried using Pimiga separate from Retropie...

Re: Keyboard or Joystick
We never had a joystick so always used the keyboard, usually 5678 and 0. There are extra benefits to using the keyboard when it comes to some games: being able to accelerate and do a wheelie in Enduro Racer, and being able to press left and right together in the skeet shooting section of Hyper Sport...

Re: Spectrum +3 to VGA
Thanks for the explanation. I don't have a bench PSU with an adjustable current limit, and although I can solder, I expect anything I do is only likely the make it worse. I checked the transistors in circuit and on TR2 I'm getting 0V both ways between the base and collector. I suppose I could send a...

Re: Spectrum +3 to VGA
Have you checked the output voltages on the various PSU pins? Blown fuse? Yes, I decided to do that yesterday after some thought, and it does look like at least one blown fuse. Since I don't know exactly how the PSUs work, I'll humbly ask you folks what you think: The +3 PSU gives no voltage readin...

Re: Spectrum +3 to VGA
So, I got my +3 a few days ago. Having installed a new drive belt, I was able to plug it in and get it working. Although I couldn't see anything, I was able to hear music playing, so I knew that it was ok. (The sound was even worse than I expected.) Today, having got together all the parts I needed,...

Re: Selling off most of my Spectrum games
I bought all of these from ebay in the past three years at these prices. Gift From The Gods (Ocean) £2.99 Cosmic Wartoad (Ocean) £3.00 Bat Man (Ritman&Drummond) (Ocean) £4.00 V (Ocean) £5.00 Ghost'n'Goblins (Elite) £6.75 Tir Na Nog (Gargoyle Software) £8.00 In 2002/2003, I paid 3.99 for Where Ti...

Re: Selling off most of my Spectrum games
Presumably you're not going to try selling these a week before Christmas? I'd certainly be interested in roughly 30 of these games, as I'm looking to get a hold of numerous games I sold a few years ago again, and to get more copies of games I own which either don't load or are missing instructions. ...

Re: RetroPie lr-fuse
I only added my Spectrum favourites to the system to see how they looked, I don't think I'd ever use it to play Spectrum games for a long time. Usually I use ZX-Baremulator on my Pi 3. The main problem there is that I have to use a different keyboard, as the official Raspberry Pi keyboard doesn't ha...

To save the settings, select 'Save Core Remap File'.
To exit any emulator, push the Select and Start buttons (on whatever contoller you use) at the same time.

Re: Spectrum +3 to VGA
I'd be very interested to hear how you progress with the +3. I've spent some extra time now playing around with the resistance on the RGB lines and can't seem to completely get rid of the vertical jailbars while also have functioning BRIGHT. For the LM1881, I have it hooked up as per the datasheet:...

Re: Spectrum +3 to VGA
I used LM1881N chips to connect my 128K and +2 machines to my Sharp monitor with no difficulties at all, and the picture is tremendous. I soldered a wire to near the RF output and connected that to the LM1881N for the 5V it needs. https://pcbiroiro.blogspot.com/2016/08/output-from-rgb-port-of-spectr...

Re: ZXBaremulator 3.2
ZXB is far from complete, IMHO. But, have any sense to add it, when the users are starting to migrate to FPGA based systems? I have the Next, but I bought a +3A Pi today just to be able to use this emulator, and it's been a real treat. Aside from using the Pi Zero in my Next (that I installed only ...
