Re: Serbian magazine "Svet Kompjutera"
About these Serbian titles: https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/list?label_id=14106 Some of them (perhaps all?) were originally published as type-in at magazine Svet Kompjutera . If you understand Serbian, could you please try to find any of these programs in the magazine? Hi, Einar Here are the type-i...

Re: Colour clash query
There is an advert in one of the April 1982 issues of Popular Computing Weekly, where a 48K Spectrum, at its launch, was being sold for less than a VIC-20 . And if you bought a VIC-20, with its massive, unimaginably enormous 3.5K of memory HASHTAG SARCASM , and amazingly sharp screen resolution HAS...

Re: Long Filename Browser for ZX-UNO / esxDOS
Thanks for the report and the files. Though I didn't need the files in the end as I already had a folder with more than a screenful of music files. Think I've fixed this now. I've re-uploaded the last test build here . Yes, the last issue is gone, thanks Bob, for the effort. I hope that there will ...

Re: Long Filename Browser for ZX-UNO / esxDOS
Hi bob_fossil , Just tested spt files support and the playback quality is really good as before, but I was surprised by some graphic artifacts in music folders, when I use the up/down arrows during playback to go to the beginning or end of the file list. After that, various visual effects occur (bla...

Re: Long Filename Browser for ZX-UNO / esxDOS
New test version available here . This should fix the reported graphics glitch when certain long filenames spill over the screen. Tested last night, no issues so far, well done Bob. :) btw, do you have any collection or examples of Sound Tracker Pro files ? I'd like to test the .stp support we have...

Re: Long Filename Browser for ZX-UNO / esxDOS
Even short filenames like Cobra.pzx Batman.pzx Biff.pzx have long filename representations, possibly due to the mix of upper and lower case characters. Thanks for the clarification, Bob. I also tried a lot of files in the /SPECCY/TAP-FIX/ folder, but none of them could be renamed. Does this explana...

Re: Long Filename Browser for ZX-UNO / esxDOS
I'd need a .hdf file to debug the first issue. Or if you can make the folder available that glitches I can try and replicate the issue. As for the second, I have encountered 8 character filenames that were stored using LFN due to special characters or formatting that couldn't be represented or allo...

Re: But really, why didn't the Speccy have a definitive football game?
Emlyn Hughes International Soccer is by a long way the most successful non-management football game on the Spectrum, and on the C64 too. It was denied the number one position by RoboCop for a few months in early 1989, and was still in both the Spectrum and C64 full-price top 10 in August 1991. Yes,...

Re: Long Filename Browser for ZX-UNO / esxDOS
Hi bob_fossil , I have a possible issue and a question. It's a visual glitch that corrupts the first letter in the file name, when I scroll the file list with the right arrow, page by page. In my case its a folder with a couple of dozen pzx files and when I press the right arrow several times and re...

Stunt Car Racer - Commodore Plus4
Another awesome Stunt Car Racer port, this time for Commodore Plus4.
It's slightly faster than the C64 version and uses a better color palette, it just lacks a better sound, but still this is one of the best conversions of this great game.

Here is new collection, take look at the screen loading size. Somehow I missed this collection of custom loaders and I have to say its really awesome. :) It's been a long time since I've seen such carefully packaged games with an exceptional speed/stability ratio. I really like the visual effects i...

Re: Stunt car racer for super cpu
I mean its amazing. better than the 16bit versions too. Maybe the BEST version of the game? It really lets Geoff Crammond's amazing programming shine. I never noticed how much physics is acting on the rival car. Its so much fun just to get close and ride behind it, and watch. Its so cool. I feel li...

Re: Stunt car racer for super cpu
This new supercpu c64 version of Stunt Car Racer is totally awesome and extremely addictive ! I played the Spectrum version on a ZX Uno at 28Mhz, but the animation is nowhere near as fluid. Also, I tried it on SpecEmu with a 50 Mhz cpu speed and even then, the smoothness was not comparable, but it d...

Re: Long Filename Browser for ZX-UNO / esxDOS
Dont work very well. System freezzy when i save configuration in slot 3 (maybe 3 minutes or more with red led on). Finally operation ends well. Works, but spent much time to save or create slot. I tried saving and loading from the first four slots, there were no problems. Maybe some sd card issue. ...

Yes, SpecEmu can do this.
Start loading process, then press ESC to go into debugger and choose Debug/Run Until/Tape Event/Tape Stops.

Re: Are the NEXT's graphics 'authentic?'
The issue I see with the Next is that early game development was as much about pushing the computer's capabilities and that was being done by a few people because it only needed a few people. Zoysa produces amazing graphics within the tiny power available but how many people would be needed to push...

Re: Are the NEXT's graphics 'authentic?'
Please don't start with such heresy... it's late and I'm out of popcorn. ;) But, let's say briefly - Everything on Next is unique and its the only natural successor of ZX Spectrum. Sam Coupe doesn't count, because it doesn't have the Rick Dickinson fancy keyboard and Sinclair logo. You see how easy ...

Re: Using A.I to recreate ZX Spectrum loading screens.
Its not easy to place the inscription, because it regularly mixes up the letters. I tried to make a picture with "TURBO ESPRIT" written above, but most often I get "TURBO ESPIRT" or some letters duplicated. Dan Dare attempt is better, but still not perfect. Now I have to wait 45 ...

Re: Aliens: Neoplasma
Love your games. When it comes to "classic Spectrum" vs. NEXT, I wonder if that's something to take advantage of. There's a Commodore 64 game called "Doc Cosmos," where you have to switch between '1983' and '1987' modes, which are a gameplay/graphics conceit to celebrate the adv...

Re: The best Speccy game by Durell: vote
I was just wondering why there is no Chain Reaction on the list. Itis an official sequel to Critical Mass, but the game is most interesting because the 128k version has an "unplanned" easter egg. Due to a bug in the game, its not possible to hear the beautiful Jean-Michel Jarre tune, adapt...

I have thousands of tapes, due to my obsession in finding and sharing MIAs. I don't spend to much on individual titles, unless they are not preserved yet. But I have some priceless items on my collection. Some tapes are unique and I own the only copy available. I reckon it would achieve very high p...

I did splurge once on a large collection of games because Pentagram was hidden in there :? In all, I have about 100 games but they're purely for display and I've no intention of "collecting" https://i.postimg.cc/svXX07kt/IMG-20230925-205624.jpg This is truly a feast for the eyes. :)
