This road appears to be full of pot holes and bumps. Maybe it's a track way and not a road???

Re: Register Addressing Modes
To be fair, 6502 programming books make a big deal about addressing MODEs, but Z80 books, not so much. I think partly due to the different mnemonics that are used. In summary, as with most things, there are as many "standards" as there are CPUs! Have a read of the Wikipedia page! Mark

Maybe we should consider a completely different system. Maybe one based on how useful each persons introduction post is? Or failing that, how many letters (characters) long their post is...

Re: Missed Interrupts with DI+IM2 in assembly
The Z80 CPU will only detect a maskable (normal) interrupt when it samples the /INT pin at the end of an instruction (assuming that /RESET, /BUSRQ and /NMI are all inactive Tut-tut. Use the Force (of BBCode), Mark. It’s INT , RESET , BUSRQ , and NMI . :D Yeah, I know :? But I composed this post off...

Re: Missed Interrupts with DI+IM2 in assembly
The ULA in a ZX Spectrum generates a 64us (32 T-states) pulse at the being of the (non-visible section of the) TV/video field. Hence the frequency being 50Hz. The ULA does not hold the interrupt line active if the CPU ignores it and it does not provide any other interrupt facilities. This interrupt ...
Re: BBCode
Pure awesomeness, @PeterJ! Thank you! Hey, @1024MAK, how cool is that? RESET CLK MREQ Very cool 8-) Makes talking about logic level and Z80 control signals a lot easier ;) Alas, a bug has bitten. When using the quote button and quoting a post that has the at @ symbol in followed by a user name, I g...
Re: BBCode
For some of these BBCode features, you should be able to "switch on" the relevant buttons for them in the edit box. For example, buttons exist for strike, sub, super...

Re: Links
Ooooo! How to divide the forum.... For the quick links and other links within the forum, I prefer to open in the same tab. For external links, yes, often it is helpful to open in a new tab. We won't mention that I can quickly go from about three open tabs to about 33 in the blink of an eye... ...

Re: Preserving device firmwares?
there is no permission to redistribute the µSource firmware so it's not going to appear here. I am aware of that. Nevertheless, it would be helpful to have a consolidated repository for firmware that can be freely distributed. Even if there is software/ firmware where permission cannot be obtained,...

Re: Responsive theme
Having full width posts makes the text harder to read. Long lines are problematic, that's why magazines and newspapers use columns :D These things have been studied by large enterprises (Apple, Microsoft, etc) and have a scientific background. That's why Facebook on my PC only occupies a tiny fract...

Re: Main logo link when in forum
Personally, on phpBB based forums, nearly the only time that I use the home page, is on forums where I am a moderator and am checking each sub-forum. Normally I just use either a bookmark to the active topics page, or use the quick links (top left of the page) to get to the active topics page. Mark

Re: Main logo link when in forum
Wow, a fight, and after only a few days since most current members discovered this forums existence  Maybe the link in the logo should go to a new page that is neither the web site home page or the forum home page, but instead is a page which has (currently) two big, easy to see (and use) links...

Re: Introduce yourself!
I got my first ZX Spectrum - a rubber-keyed 48K model - for Christmas in 1982, and have been a computer programmer ever since. One or two replacement Spectrums later, I stopped using the machine around 1990 (I think). The last replacement currently rests somewhere in the attic, and owing to me bein...

Re: Spectrum screen layout
The simple answer is to make the hardware simpler, hence keep the cost down (hence keep the design of the ULA and it's RAM interface as low cost as possible). For once, the design has very little in common with the ZX80 or the ZX81. They use a completely different method of screen generation and in ...

Re: Redirect forums to https
On the machine that I'm currently using, the browser is Firefox 56.0 (32-bit), which is running on a Linux OS. Note that Safari on an iPad mini does not produce this warning. The Firefox browser does have various plugins, but none inject mark-up on any pages and it is fine on other secure sites. The...

All pages do it. I think it is either the logo picture, or the associated link: http://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/
EDIT: it's the link, as loading the GIF image alone does not generate the warning.

btw, I already told you that RMartins was recently banned (without proper explanation) and I almost cant believe you didnt notice it.
