Threads like this make me glad JTAG/BSCAN were invented. Then we would only need to worry about the discretest of the discretes.
Re: WoS Links
That just to point out that WoS is still a valuable resource - and to me, essential - despite the lack of maintenance (so to speak) that went on after Martijn Van Der Heide ended running it. I am glad that WoS still exists. A good counterpoint. I'm only faintly aware of the 'drama' (before this eve...

The presnitz is much more filling, a slice of it is more than enough for breakfast, at least for me. https://i.postimg.cc/PLfXvm1F/IMG-20200505-073816.jpg It is a sort of strudel but made with dried fruit - raisins, nuts, hazelnuts and pine nuts, together with butter, eggs, sugar, honey, pulverized...

Re: An article about the coming up Spectrum Homebrew games
I was about to ask for a link to the English version (though I did learn Spanish at school for a few years, that knowledge has long gone), only to realise I was only looking at the first paragraph for each title.

Metal Slug one and the Unofficial SNES pixel book. Both very good. I was involved in both of those. Enjoy! Oh, that's interesting, what part did you play? Amazing quality, but their heft makes them a bit difficult for bedtime reading. :D I do want the Speccy one but current finances a bit shaky so ...

Hang on a minute . Mario doesn't do any plumbing, because he's always somewhere far away rescuing his girlfriend who's just been abducted yet again It's a little known fact that Mario's real title is 'hostage negotiator', but he doesn't like to talk about it since that embassy siege back in the 80'...

Chris Wilkin's publications are generally second to none. For those that don't know, he did histories of Ocean and US Gold (amongst many other very readable titles), which I remember he gave away (in pdf form) virtually for pennies last year. I thoroughly recommend all of them. While I'm at it on th...

I took my ten minute walk round the block today and saw someone remove their mask to cough, then put it back on again. Nothing else to add really.

Yes, I bought the Fusion 2020 annual, very slick indeed. Also came with a nice Oli Frey inspired (may even be him, but can't see his signature on any of the pictures) 2020 calendar (which given the current situation is chocolate fireguard like). High quality content/printing/binding with no ads apar...

Hello all! Hope you are all well. I've had a couple of weeks away from the internet in general, I've personally found it all a bit hard. I'd like to apologise to anyone I've offended on here recently without reservation. I do tend to be a bit less restrained when it comes to posting my personal opin...

Re: Games behaving differently on the Next
If you think that the NEC µPD780 is a official licensed version, you are mistaken. Read what it says in this Wiki . Then read this transcript (you want page 13 onwards). it just says the NEC version was copied, nothing about it becoming or not becoming licensed later Yes, in their reverse engineeri...

Re: Games behaving differently on the Next
I had some problems running Manic Pietro over VGA. Tried every video mode at 50Hz, but the multi colour was badly corrupted. The only way to get it to work was to use the Pentagon .tap and start the game in Pentagon timing mode. Anyone got the 'vanilla' version going? It's not a big deal, but though...

Always Xilinx' M.O.
Forever buying business/projects from us back in the day by simply undercutting and not necessarily having the better technology.
I'm really not bitter about it.

Re: Games behaving differently on the Next
I appreciate all the work that has gone into the Next, clearly it's been a huge effort to get it out, and despite the many naysayers, I knew we would get the machine in the end. I worked as a hardware engineer in broadcast for a while for Snell and Wilcox. The sheer amount of video standards and tim...

Ha. I grew up on Cat Hill about 5 minutes from the Southgate campus, in fact the shop I mentioned above was in Southgate. Did you ever go to Logic Sales? No Douglas, I was at the Trent Park, Enfield campus. I lived in Hertford used to cycle from Sele Farm to Trent Park so didn't have the freedom to...

Re: Did home computers in the 80s/90s influence your career choice?
Only in that when I saw the careers officer I said I wanted to be a graphics designer. "Any good at it?" "No, but I really enjoy it" "Well, a lot of people want to do that. I see you work part time in a computer shop, why not go and do electronics?" So I did, and regret...
