Hey, PeterJ !
NO. I don't have these images hosted on my site. I once had a ZX Spectrum project featuring spectrum contents, but it is no longer online.
All contents are on my computer.
Any missing scans or old scans in bad shape you need, just let me know. All my scans are all minutely remastered in all these departments:
1) REAL ASPECT RATIO (same size of original inlays)
2) BLUR-FREE (no smoothness on scans caused by some image editors and/or scanners)
3) MINIMUM NOISE (extremely-low image noise, such as paper fibres and imperfections)
4) IMPERFECTIONS-FREE (majority of print imperfections/defects removed manually and locally)
5) REALISTIC and VIVID COLOURS (scanned image colours retouched to match the original inlays quality and vividness)
6) PRINT QUALITY READY (excellent print out results on any printer)
7) SUPER FLAT scans (no inclined images -- all super straight scans only)
8) FULLY COMPLETE (no missing parts on my scans, front and back)
Cheers to you all!

Re: HOW TO PREPARE NEW/MISSING SCANS OF INLAYS/COVERS/TAPES FOR THIS SITE
I do agree that the scans shall be as faithful as possible to the original inlays, and that paper fibres are part of it. But when DPIs are too high on such small pieces of paper, it just "amplifies" the fibres and defects more than normal, bringing to the final scan a lot of undesired "noise". Not to mention the noise added by compressed files such as JPG (I also understand the space limits).akeley wrote: ↑Fri Mar 19, 2021 6:30 pm I'm always in the "bigger is better" camp when it comes to retro scans (and I've been collecting mags, manuals, etc, for many years now). Since one of the main goals is preservation for the future generations, we should always strive to produce the highest quality and include as much data as possible.
But, again, I'm not here to change any rules or impose anything to anyone. We're just talking about scans here and, before offering my help, I think it's nice to share some personal experience with you.
My offer is still up if Spectrum Computing needs it.

Thanks Quazatron,
Let's focus (no pun intended) as pavero says on the priority ones that are either poor quality or we don't currently have.
Out of interest, what is the size in GB of your entire collection?

Re: HOW TO PREPARE NEW/MISSING SCANS OF INLAYS/COVERS/TAPES FOR THIS SITE
Hey!
My entire collection, to start with, isn't all scanned, unfortunately.
Each final PNG image is around just 800Kb to 1MB. Not that much.
So, I have about 1GB only total scans so far! (I have tons to scan yet -- just need time).
And, yes! I do agree to focus on poor or missing inlays. Not sure If I can help much though.
But I can add an extra help: I can help remaster images that other people scan and do not have the ability or tools to do so. No sweat!

Regardless of other things, maybe you could consider uploading it to archive.org as a pack. I'm sure it'd be very popular.
Re: HOW TO PREPARE NEW/MISSING SCANS OF INLAYS/COVERS/TAPES FOR THIS SITE
Agreed akeley,
Or Google Drive or similar which will probably be easier if you are intending to regularly add new titles.

You can begin with this page:

And with this list:

Hey!
I'll check out the links given and see what I can contribute.
Anyway, meanwhile, if anyone has scans that need remastering for an excellent final result, just let me know! I can surely give you a hand!
Cheers!

Another thing in which I can help is "transforming" game inlays into HQ BIG SIZE posters or images for T-Shirts, Puzzles, cups, etc!
Or for an outdoor advert-sized image for your bedroom wall, for example, totally unpixelated and unblurred! Ah ah ah!

BTW, the most of inlays from Spanish releasers are welcome too! Unfortunately we have almost nothing from this production.
Re: HOW TO PREPARE NEW/MISSING SCANS OF INLAYS/COVERS/TAPES FOR THIS SITE
Yes, I know! I have a few scanned inlays from Spanish publishers, but games are way too expensive for me to acquire them to my own collection.
However, I know a guy who has lots of them and can eventually contribute (I guess he's already doing that -- Luis Rato).
Cheers!

So far, from what I've checked, I have 6 games you need.
Room Ten - clam box
They Call Me Trooper - clam box
Wolfman - Double Jewel
Don't Say It, Spray It - single
Dusty Droid And The Garbage Gobblers - single
Twin World - small box version
They are already scanned, according to my database, but they are not yet remastered.
As soon as I have a spare time, I'll do it for you guys!

Re: HOW TO PREPARE NEW/MISSING SCANS OF INLAYS/COVERS/TAPES FOR THIS SITE
Just my thoughts: I think one version of the same inlay in every game is enough.
I dowloaded the example and compared with the SC one and, since I'm not an expert, I see no big differences, so the huge work done here should stay, but in some cases that SC still has the old Wos low-res could be easily replaced, like the spanish games (good news, Quazatron! ) that even they were scanned and uploaded to WoS in a very good quality, their resolution were too slow for today's standards.
In that way, SC would have almost all inlays preserved and in an excellent condition in only a few weeks/months.
Besides, all the stuff made by Quazatron (and Mort too) should be available somewhere here (i.e. a link in a fix thread in 'Preservation' subforum) if they agree, obvs.
Finally, a big thank to Quazatron for the offering and his work.

I can add a couple of others which actual condition is not good for different reasons, like Gauntlet 2, Jack the Nipper 2, Jaws (by Screen 7), Phantom Club (with excessive lighting), Exolon (too pale), etc. But, again, it will all depend on SC team.

US Gold and Screen 7 titles (Gauntlet 2, Jaws) are almost processed, but they have not been published yet at SC. But what we really need is the Fallen Angel inlay from Screen 7.Quazatron wrote: ↑Sun Mar 28, 2021 12:59 am @Juan F. Ramirez

Inlays from Hewson, Ocean and Gremlin are fine, maybe only I will look at the bright and contrast of some of them to reduce "too pale" effect.
Re: HOW TO PREPARE NEW/MISSING SCANS OF INLAYS/COVERS/TAPES FOR THIS SITE
I've got Fallen Angel.
When I can squeeze in some time, I'll dig it out and scan it for yous.
