1) Chaos. As if it'd be anything different. Yes, you know my feelings on this.
2) Rebelstar 2. The peak of the trilogy!
3) Lords Of Chaos. Not bad for a linear take on Chaos.

Re: Devfinitive Edition (Jullian Gollop): vote
I owned a "copy" of Laser Squad but it never loaded, as much as i tried. Always thought i would enjoy this game as much as, if not more than, Rebelstar, but i never actually played it. Ever! I know i can change that fact easily now, but who has time to play games, i spend all my time collecting them.
So, having actually played (and loving) Rebelstar, i could never really get into Rebelstar II in the same way, too much changed. I enjoyed the simplicity of the first one and i could beat it The sound effects when you win and destroy that reactor are awesome.
Then theres Lords of Chaos which looks like a wizardry version of Rebelstar (looks awesome), but alas never played it...
And i know i may get ridiculed for this... But i also never played Chaos. I always thought it looked a bit crap and always passed it by.
So all i can really vote for is Rebelstar, then Rebelstar II.
I will amend the "i've played those" list one of these days.

I don't have anything cool to put here, so i'll just be off now to see a priest with yeast stuck between his teeth and his friend called Keith who's a hairpiece thief...

I enjoyed Rebelstar II too, but doesn't quite make the top 3.
Despite being ultra-excited when it came out, I couldn't get to grips with Lords of Chaos.

My third vote could easily have been Rebelstar or Rebelstar II.
I’ve never really found a game since that’s drawn me in quite like these games and I’ve played them as an adult. I tried XCOM and desperately wanted to like it but it didn’t grab me in the same way.

This is basically based on how much time I've spent on each game.
Rebelstar 2 is probably the most unfair game ever, but I've poked thorugh it.
Chaos should probably have been a great game, but none of my friends know english and i don't really like deckbuilding.
Laser Squad is probably a better game too, but I just don't like the randomness in the game, and the stealthy bit, and the fog of war.
I've played lots more war games since then, still don't like Fog of War.
Lords of Chaos is a fine game until the micromanaging bit with too many units.

Laser squad and lords of chaos are great multiplayer games.
Has anyone played battle cars?

Yep, it's OK but it's a bit too sluggish for my liking.

Re: Devfinitive Edition (Jullian Gollop): vote
That's not surprising given that the team who made it went by the name of SLUG.
It's an OK adaptation of the classic card/dice/tabletop game Car Wars. The more interesting modes require two players although there are a couple of single player options. I had a friend at school who was similarly into strategy games and we played a fair bit of it.

Re: Devfinitive Edition (Jullian Gollop): vote
I like doing these polls, but sadly there must have been some hacking and/or trolling or something. The wrong game won.
Laser Squad (yeah, it's good, but you know... not Chaos good) has won, with 13 votes. Grr... is this the 2016 US electoral method at play?
Which means The Greatest Game Of All Time On Any Platform Ever is bizarrely in second place. Yeah, it's like the results of The best classic Speccy game beginning with C poll, Chaos unfairly ends up with a silver medal. Well done to eleven people who recognise it as the best and not second.
Joint third place will please (or even antagonise, if you think about it) the fans of the Rebelstar series, as it's Rebelstar and Rebelstar 2 getting three votes each. (Speaking of which, how do you guys recognise Rebelstar Raiders? Is that effectively 'Rebelstar 0'? Like the Phantom Menace/Prometheus/First Of The Summer Wine/Rock & Chips of Rebelstar?)
Fourth place goes to Lords Of The Greatest Game Of All Time On Any Platform Ever, which got two votes.
Well, you've probably got the idea that I'm not pleased by the phpBB poll results. And of course, we run a 'top three' proportional voting system whenever possible, giving a richer view of your feelings. This week, I am especially pleased with the proportional results and I really do feel they should override the main poll. Ahem:
The Greatest Game Of All Time On Any Platform Ever 18
Laser Squad by Target Games 13
Rebelstar 2 by Silverbird 11
Rebelstar by Firebird 10
Lords Of Chaos by Blade Software 5
Laser Squad - Remix by Blade Software 2
Rebelstar Raiders by Red Shift 1
Nebula by Red Shift 0

As for Rebelstar Raiders, i've never played it as it's 2 player only so what's the point? As if a turn based strategy fan has friends eh?

I'll fully embrace AI on the day it becomes a decent replacement for a human on two-player-only Speccy games.

Rebelstar 1 and 2 kind of steal votes from each other. Combined they are his best work.

Re: Devfinitive Edition (Jullian Gollop): vote
I like Chaos but just prefer L.S. because it has scenarios. I used to play it a lot single and multiplayer. I didn't play chaos near as much.
It was superseded by Lords of Chaos which whiled away many hours on multiplayer. The single player campaigns were somewhat lacking.
I would also prefer rebelstar 1 over Chaos because I played that a lot.
Chaos is great though...

Late in the Speccy's commercial life, there was that unauthorised Chaos-with-scenarios isometric 3D remake.
