Creator/Developer?
Creator/Developer?
I may have asked this before, but would not it be better if you divide it like this;
1) Publisher
2) Developer
3) Credits/Creator(s) IF it is known who actually programmed, written, etc. the games.
Examples:
Look Sharp!
Publisher: Mirrorsoft Ltd.
Developer: Widgit Software
Creator(s): Written by Gordon Askew
Taalles:
Publisher: Uitgeverij NIB BV
Developer: Primosoft
Creator(s): Guus Alders, Hans Kunstman
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory:
Publisher: Hill MacGibbon
Developer: Soft Option, The
Creator(s): A. Curtis (UK), N. Head (UK)
Rambo:
Publisher: Ocean
Developer: Platinum Productions (https://archive.org/details/Crash_No._2 ... ew=theater)
Creator(s): David J. Anderson (UK), F. David Thorpe [Frederick David Thorpe] (UK)
Professional Snooker Simulator
Publisher: Code Masters Ltd (UK)
Developer: Hard Software ()
Creator(s): Godwin Graham (UK) (The GEEZER)
This would make it easier to tell who have done what. Otherwise it would look like that the Developer has done the programming, etc.
PS: My apologies if I am utterly unclear in this. That is because I was not sure how to explain this correctly and all. (I also do not feel that well either)
Edit: What IS Professional Snooker Simulator? A different game than Tournament Snooker or a re-release?

Re: Creator/Developer?
What about a game that was developed by some authors working for a certain company, other authors working for another company, and perhaps even more authors working as freelancer (outside any company)? For instance:
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/9 ... puter_Game
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/1 ... fterburner
This kind of information would get lost in the layout you proposed.
We always display developer roles whenever we have this information. For instance:
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/8 ... tle_Master
Same page in compact view:
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/alt/836 ... tle_Master
What do you mean?
At least one of the developers has certainly done the programming!
In ZXDB, "derived" refers to a different title. It means the original authors took one of their previous games and made some changes, in order to produce a different game.
Here are some good examples:
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/2 ... nstein_Jnr
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/3 ... SU_Edition
Re: Creator/Developer?
If I'm understanding correctly, it would be nice to see roles within the development team where known, eg:
Programmer
Artist
Artist (loading screen)
Writer
I don't think I see that in the examples you linked to, Einar. This is certainly a huge amount of work though...

Re: Creator/Developer?
I was wondering (if it is okay to ask it here. if not sorry); the TEAM is the Developer and is going to look like this, right
Example:
Taalles:
Publisher: Uitgeverij NIB BV
Team: Primosoft
Klokkijken Analoog:
Publisher: Uitgeverij NIB BV
Team: Primosoft
Same with Klokkijken Analoog + Klokkijken Digitaal and 20-Veld Rekenen.

Taalles:
Publisher: Uitgeverij NIB BV
Team: Primosoft
Klokkijken Analoog:
Publisher: Uitgeverij NIB BV

Same with Klokkijken Analoog + Klokkijken Digitaal and 20-Veld Rekenen.

Re: Creator/Developer?
How would you want to display Castle Master?
EDIT: Also "A View to a Kill" and "Afterburner"?
EDIT: Also "A View to a Kill" and "Afterburner"?
Re: Creator/Developer?
To be completely honest I DID completely overlooked the part with the Team, so maybe it should be more visible in the top? Like:
Title: Castle Master
Release Date:1990
Original Publisher: Domark Ltd (UK)
Team: Incentive Software Ltd
Teque Software Development Ltd
Creators: Ian Andrew (UK)
Chris Andrew [2] (UK)
Mike Salmon (UK)
Mel Croucher (UK)
Matt Furniss (UK)
Contributors: David Wyatt
The part of author's roles and their Team(s) can be kept the same, but they all (except one) are from the same team. But no idea how to make it better.
That being said. IF everyone is just happy on how it is now. it just can stay this way, though. What do you all think?
Edit: Team = Developer? And how to insert the Team/Developer? Is it like this? Add the Author(s) and then connect the person/them to the team? Also how can you add more than one authors on one game? If you know what I mean.
Edit1: Ooh. You have to use the "Add original publisher/author for existing title/entry" again, ah? To add the second author.

Re: Creator/Developer?
You can add up to 15 authors at once via this form.
Re: Creator/Developer?
Okay. Thanks. I have done this with "Taalles" and added both of the Authors (and connected them with the Developer Team: Primosoft) plus added the actual publisher: Uitgeverij NIB BV.
Sources:
1)
2)
3)
Can someone check this in History and see if it is okay?
Edit: I will do this with all the programs that were done by Primosoft and published by Uitgeverij NIB BV.

Re: Creator/Developer?
Not really. Your proposed layout would suggest that Castle Master was developed by Incentive and Terque. However 2 out of 6 authors were not part of either company.
Here's another example:
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/8 ... _The_Crypt
In this case, your layout would show Terque as the only "Developer" company. However only 1 out of 5 authors worked for Terque.
For this reason, I personally prefer the current layout. I think showing the team name more prominently could be misleading... Although to be fair, other websites using ZXDB are more similar to be layout you described and I'm fine with that
In this case:

Re: Creator/Developer?
Thank you!!!
Re: Creator/Developer?
Just in case: When I want to change the publisher of "20-Veld Rekenen" I have to remove the previous one, add the Author(s) and Publish. Then go to "Add original publisher/authors" and then add the actual publisher, right? Or is there a better way?
PS: If I have forgotten one it is still be in an alphabetical order, right?

Re: Creator/Developer?
Yes, it is. You can do this in one step. You must add the actual publisher under the Original Publisher #2.
Re: Creator/Developer?
Aha. Thank you. I have changed it. Okay. Now I will do the other programs from Primosoft (and published by Uitgeverij NIB BV) that have not been added yet.
About Klokkijken Analoog + Klokkijken Digitaal? Is it just me or are there some errors in the back cover. Like "6 2 jarigen", "Vijf moeilijkheidsniveaus. in uren" (or should it be like that?) and "moet worden ngetoetst". It is just very interesting to see.
PS: Mental note to myself: find more things about Klokkijken Analoog + Klokkijken Digitaal and then add the publisher, author(s) and all.
