1988 Topo Soft (Spain) / Ocean (UK)
by Rafael Gomez, Javier Cano Fuente and Kantxo
Awful football simulation game.
Again a spanish game that bets on looks rather than quality.
The sprites seem to move by square instead of pixel. Control is ackward and once you dominate a goal technique there is no use in playing differently, thus making the game repetitive.
Nice graphics, but that's all. 'Tehkan World Cup' in the arcades was a lot better.

Emilio Butragueño is my favorite soccer player ever and the Zx Spectrum simulator is not a bad game .
The ball changes size depending on the distance from the observer and , if I remember well , you can shoot the ball with a parabol or with a hook - I don´t know the correct word in English for a shoot that changes its trajectory - .
A soccer game starring the best Spanish footballer ever cannot be bad .
There are much worse football games on the Speccy but, still, the scrolling of this top view effort is rather jerky and I find it hard to understand where my player is and to control him satisfyingly.
2,5/5

WhenIWasCruel looked at this game recently and I felt duly inclined to have a look at it, and wow it's appalling. I didn't expect this to be good but I'm honestly taken aback by how pitiful this turned out. It's supposed to be based on the arcade game Tekhan World Cup, I haven't played it in a long time but I have a feeling that was a far far far better game than what this was supposed to be. It's pretty slow, it's hard to move your players, the ball gets taken from you any chance it gets and three massive flaws took place during my games. The first was the opposing keeper saved my shot and caught the ball, he then kicked it away but the whistle blew and suddenly he has the ball again and kicks it away again, very strange. Then, the opposing player shoots the ball and it goes into the corner of the goal but it calls for a goal kick instead, it was a goal and I should be 2-0 down but I'm not. Then moments later my goalie disappears off the face of the earth giving them an open goal and I'm 2-0 down anyway. Absolute rubbish and this has quickly become one of the very worst football games on the Spectrum in my eyes.
A football game inspired by the legendary Tehkan World Cup arcade hit.
Back in the day this top selling game was very addictive, with an original view and its great 2 player option but a bad scroll and poor sounds have made it hasn't aged very well, I played it a lot and have good regards of it, though.

Found it. This is pretty rubbish, Michel's game is much better.
