Reviews for Astro Marine Corps (#295)

Shoot'em-up with big colorful sprites, paralax scrolling, animated background and in-game music. Am I talking about a game from arcades? No. It's "Astro Marine Corps" on ZX Spectrum. Like many Spanish games it's quite hard (especially the 2nd part) but also very playable.
If you wanna play a good blaster with good gfx try this!

1989 Dinamic Software (Spain)

I really tried to like this game, but it just seems too amateurish. It looks alright, but it feels a bit messy. Just look at the bullets, fire or laser or whatever they are. The movement in blocks rather than pixels is also something I can't get used to. No game written in code machine should play like this. One of the advantages of machine code is the speed and smoothness in playing, so why lose such a strong playing aid? It looks like a BASIC game on speed! Can't understand that.
I admit the game is addictive and highly playable, but I prefer other cups of tea.

In the same vein as other Spanish games like Game Over or Phantis but with an extra touch of quality and distinction .

Not a perfect game but quite good and addictive ,,, with many humorous and imaginative touches .

In its looks it reminds me of Navy Moves and , in fact , they are both from the same epoch and same company .

Dynamic marked the golden age of Spanish software back in the late 80´s with ambitious games full of gore and action like this one .

Pretty good , indeed ! ;-)

Colourful run and gunner with some fantastic music. The character square movement prevents colour clash but makes for some jerky scrolling. It's a fair compromise and is preferable to monochrome graphics. The actual game is fairly simple but is enjoyable in short bursts.
