A mixture of one-on-one fighting and a simple maze-game. Ultimately, there's not all that much to 'Dungeon of Drax' but the different levels and variety of opponents is nice. Drax himself, once reached, is rather too easy though.
In this sequel to the one-on-one sword fighting game, you come back either as the Barbarian, this time armed with a double axe, or the sword-wielding Princess, in order to defeat the vicious Drax once and for all.
Through three levels - the wasteland, caves and Drax's dungeon - you will meet several enemies, and each one of the requires a different approach to be defeated. Some of them, like the dinosaur in the first level, can kill you with a single blow, but you can do the same if you, as in the first game, manage to behead them.
The final battle will once again require you to use (a bit of) strategy since pure brawl won't cut it. Some items scattered throughout the levels will also be very useful if you find and understand how to use them.
All in all, an enjoyable hack-and-slash escapade, not so long but with a good deal of variety.

I loved the first Barbarian, I always found it very beautiful and original within the beat em up genre, but I was absolutely astonished with the sequel.
It's again another beat em-up, you basically make the same moves and blows you did in the first game, but only this time it is possible to move from screen to screen, like in 'Fist II' which makes it a more immersing game. But what stands out here is quality of the graphics and the backgrounds, which I think are some the best in this sort of games. Level 1 is average but once you get to level 2 you will know what I mean. Just look at some of the monsters you get: dinosaurs, giant demons, big felines and lots of weird middle age fantastic creatures. The great animated sequence when entering a dark tunnel/cave is also very goog. Also the humour scattered around in the mix is a must, just take a look at the final scene and tell me I'm wrong.
Highly recommend for anyone who (still) enjoys Spectrum beat em-ups games or any fan of middle age themes.

A super production for the Spectrum with all of its elements , with all of its merits .
Cool and big graphics , nice movements , incredible atmosphere , gruesome and imaginative monsters ... this game has it all !!!
The music does it work pretty well !
One of the best productions ever made for the Speccy !
The movements are a bit repetitive , though . Only for that I won´t give this a big 5 but a 4,5 instead .
