Reviews for Shadow Dancer (#4421)

playable platform/shoot'em up, with nice touches: a well drawn and animated dog sometimes helps you in your mission (whatever it is), blocking snipers and enemies, letting you kill'em.

Another coin-op conversion - and a faithful one as well. Better than the Spectrum version of its prequel (Shinobi), Shadow Dancer is a competent platform-shooter (with shurikens) hybrid with the added novelty of a dog who is able to assault enemies, distracting them enough to let you fly a shuriken in their direction.

As for the coin-op, though, the action tends to become a tad samey.

Remember Shinobi? Well this is its sequel - Shadow Dancer was a game I always struggled to get into for some reason, didn't get into it in the arcade, didn't get into it on the Mega Drive and couldn't be bothered to play the Spectrum version until now, but it's actually pretty good except that sometimes the controls get screwed up when you jump on a platform and you're fixed to one direction regardless unless you move the other way first, so you have to shuffle like an idiot before you move correctly again and then you die, brilliant! Besides the mentioned fault it's pretty nice and worth a go or two, don't forget to shuffle though.

A fairly decent action game with the plus of being assisted by a trained dog/wolf ¿?¿? .

There is no stamina bar in here and it is very easy to get killed by any flying object -bullet or knife- . that´s a bad aspect of Shadow Dancer , or at least one that I criticize .

Your weapons as a ninja are endless shurikens and magic thunderbolts . who needs more to assault an international airport ??

3,5 of valoration .
