Reviews for Universal Hero (#5519)

One of the better examples of the budget Mastertronic arcade adventures.
Jetpac around, solving puzzles and avoiding nasties on a quest to find spare parts for your spaceship, as you do.
The presentation is a little clunky in places, but it plays at a nice pace, has some nice details and oozes atmosphere.

A budget classic! The way you float around with the jet pack is fun all in itself. Puzzles are great and theres real satisfaction just from exploring a la Jet Set Willy. Always found typing the Slartibartfast password difficult tho. Theres little sound in the game but within the code is a recommendation to have the Prince 1999 album on while playing, can't say better than that :D

Interesting Jet-Pac variation ... or shall we say evolution ??

It's a neat little arcade/adventure in 2d, with lots of objects to pick up and use, three levels and some nice touches,
for example, in the first level you must find a way to start your small spacecraft and reach space base which is level 2,
and you're done, you actually see yourself flying to your next destination. It's well done, and a real bargain, being a budget, but personally it didn't grab me. Maybe because I'm so inept that I wasn't able to solve a single puzzle on my own.

Gotta be honest, I wasn't impressed. These type of games won't please everyone and this one didn't please me. It looks lovely, but the gameplay simply did nothing for me. I'm certain if I played this back then I'd like this more.
