Re: Timing differences between different versions of 48K ULAs?

Yes, I got that one, since I was missing the so-called 'Issue 1.5' motherboard in my collection ;)

They are quite rare, possibly even more than Issue 1 ones. Now if I only could put my greedy hands on an Issue 5 (something which I know will never happen...)

Re: How did your ZX Spectrum die?

My original 16K ZX Spectrum, bought in Siena sometimes in 1983 (I remember being offered the choice between the 16K and 32K models by the shop owner!) and soon updated to 48K after a trip to Florence to get the necessary chips, still lives happily :D

Re: Hang on a minute...

Maybe it needs a backplane, like the one here: http://projectspeccy.com/projects/ (scroll down until you find Sinclair Spectrum Backplane) ;)

It would need some adaptation, but it should be feasible.

Hmm, I don't think TR8 needs to be flipped, only the three 2N3904s.

Re: Spectrum as a serious business machine?

It might have been mentioned already, but back in 1984 a few ZX Spectrum were used by RAI (the "Italian BBC") during the Giro d'Italia, as described in these articles (in Italian)

Re: The Joys of a reborn Speccy

I can only agree, I have a couple of those SPECTRA+128 interfaces, and they are great!

Just make sure yours is a grey +2, since otherwise an adapter is needed.

Try doing a recap, I've seen similar artifact disappear with a fresh set of capacitors.

Re: Buying a used Microdrive - any tips?

As you're located in the UK you can get the same stuff from ZX Renew (https://zxrenew.co.uk/Replacement-Micro ... p297531870) and avoid the risks of shipping from China: after more than two years since I ordered (and paid for) it, I'm still waiting for a replica of the Toastrack keypad

Let's not forget the Spectrum has also an original 32KB RAM extension, those are not common either... ;)

Re: Introduce yourself!

Hi,

Probably it's just the rubber belt of the datacorder, which after ~35 years needs replacing ;) Plenty of videos showing how to do it on YouTube.

One important fact: is your +2 grey or black? The number of belts differ between the two models.

Re: WiP Raspberry Pico Microdrive Hardware Emulator

Hi Tom,

Talking about the latest version of your OqtaDrive QL (v1.2), where can I find the BoM?

I ordered a few of them from PCBWay, but now I'm stuck. I think I saw it linked to the previous version (v1.1)?

Thanks

Hi,

When I upload the Gerber files (fab1.2.zip) to JLCPCB the system tells me that it's a 4-layer circuit: is that correct? :?:

Thanks

Re: Newbie - info on Spectrum 16k Series 1

Check the voltages, 12V are needed for the video section to work properly.

This one being an Issue 2, another possibility is that potentiometers VR1 and VR2 need to be adjusted.

Hi,

This is just one of many images you can find: https://spectrumforeveryone.com/wp-cont ... ssue-1.jpg

Please do note this photo includes the 32K expansion, which should be missing in your case.
